About the Artist

Who are you, and what is your background in watercolor painting? I’m Josh! I was born and raised in Mt. Airy, NC. I moved to Charlotte for college back in 2000 and never left! I love living in the Queen City. By day, I’m an Analytics Leader, by night, I’m busing around my kids and painting whenever I get the chance. I started painting when I was 11 and have been doing it for much of my life. Such great therapy for me and I’m happy to share it with you.

What inspires your artwork? Essentially everything. I love finding unique colors, shapes and patterns in the world, especially in nature.

Artwork & Process

Are your paintings original, or do you offer prints? Both! Check out my store in the menu.

Do you take commissions or custom painting requests? Yes! As long as my calendar permits, I love taking on commissions. Reach out to me if interested josh@joshchilton.com

What paper, paints, and brushes do you use? I mainly use Fabriano Artistico 300lb cold press water color paper. This is a fine paper made completely of cotton rag. It is perfect to get the expressive brush strokes that I enjoy. I strictly use Holbein Artist Grade watercolor paints and gouache. I also use Golden acrylic and pen ink on occasion. As for brushes, I have an assortment of rounds, squares, stiff bristle, squirrel hair and synthetic.

Purchasing & Shipping

How can I purchase your artwork? Just checkout the “Originals’ in my menu; this is a fully functional store.

Do you offer international shipping? Unfortunately not at this time; just the lower 48.

How is the artwork packaged for shipping? Very carefully! I take great pride in protecting the pieces during shipping. Depending on size, they will come in a box or tube.

What is your estimated delivery time? Usually 3-5 business ays

What payment methods do you accept? Credit/Debit, Apple Pay

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return/exchange policy? All artwork is sold as-is unless there is a problem with shipping.

What if my artwork arrives damaged? Contact me ASAP and I will do everything I can to make it right, including sending a replacement piece and giving a full refund.

Licensing & Usage

Can I use your artwork for commercial purposes? Not without my written consent, but lets talk if you have an idea!

Do you offer licensing options for businesses or publications? Of course! Let’s talk!

**NOTE: With the exception of commissioned pieces, I still retain the digital rights to any original artwork purchased. This gives me the ability to still offer prints.
